1948 Legacy Society
For generations, members of the Stonehill community have believed in the transformative power of a Stonehill education. Their generosity has helped ensure that future generations of students will have the opportunity to learn, grow, lead, and make a difference in the world.
It is a privilege to begin this next chapter of my own journey at Stonehill as Vice President of Advancement. For the past three years, I have had the opportunity to serve as Assistant Vice President and to work alongside so many members of our community who care deeply about Stonehill and its future. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue that work in this new role and to build upon the strong foundation established by those who have come before me.
Today I am delighted to share an exciting new chapter in that tradition.
The Lux Et Spes Society Is Becoming the 1948 Legacy Society
Named for the year Stonehill was founded, 1948 represents the beginning of our shared history and the vision that has guided Stonehill for more than seven decades. While our name and identity are evolving, our purpose remains the same: to recognize and celebrate members of our community who have chosen to make a lasting investment in Stonehill’s future through a planned or estate gift.
As a valued member of the Lux Et Spes Society, you are already part of this legacy. On behalf of Stonehill College, I want to express my sincere gratitude for your commitment to Stonehill and for the confidence you have placed in the College and its future.
As we transition to the 1948 Legacy Society, we are also taking this opportunity to update our records.
Over the years, many of our members have shared their estate and planned gift intentions with Stonehill through conversations with members of our team, letters, or discussions with their advisors. In some cases, we have documentation of those intentions; in others, we have only a record of a verbal commitment.
We would be grateful if you would take a few moments to confirm and/or update the enclosed Gift Intention Confirmation Form. This will allow us to properly document your intentions and, most important, ensure that we understand how you would like your generosity to be recognized.
We understand that estate plans are personal and may change over time. You are not required to provide a copy of your will, trust, or other estate-planning documents. If you are comfortable sharing documentation, however, it would be very helpful as we update our records. Many members simply share the portion of their will, trust, beneficiary designation, or other document that identifies Stonehill as a beneficiary.
Having this information helps us accurately document your intentions and, most important, gives us the opportunity to honor your wishes and your generosity in the years ahead. Any information you choose to share will be treated confidentially.
You may also indicate whether you would like to be recognized as a member of the 1948 Legacy Society or remain anonymous. The choice is entirely yours.
We will celebrate the launch of the 1948 Legacy Society this spring with a special gathering on campus. This gathering will be an opportunity to celebrate you and the many members of our community whose generosity is helping shape Stonehill’s future. We look forward to sharing more about the 1948 Legacy Society, hearing stories from across the Stonehill community, and raising a glass to the lasting impact of your generosity. Stay tuned for more information.
Thank you for believing in Stonehill and for choosing to make a difference that will extend far beyond your own time here. Your generosity is a powerful expression of faith in our students and in the future of this College.
If you have questions about the 1948 Legacy Society or the enclosed form, please feel welcome to reach out to Meg Artz, Stonehill’s Director of Planned Giving, at 508-565-1294 or martz@stonehill.edu. Meg will be happy to assist you and serve as a point of reference as we make this transition.
With gratitude,
Steve King
Vice President of Advancement
Stonehill College
P.S. If you have already provided Stonehill with documentation of your planned gift, thank you! We are simply asking you to review the enclosed form so that we can make sure our records accurately reflect your current wishes.
